Pediatric Narcolepsy Severity Scale (NSS-P)
Pediatric Narcolepsy Severity Scale (NSS-P)
The NSS-P was adapted from the Narcolepsy Severity Scale (NSS). It is a brief, self-report questionnaire designed to measure frequency, severity, and consequences of the 5 key symptoms of narcolepsy type 1 in children and adolescents.
The NSS-P consists of 6 items on symptom frequency and 8 items on the consequences of symptoms on daily life. It is validated in children and adolescents ≥10 years of age.
Symptom frequency items are rated on a scale from 0 to 5, and consequences of symptoms items are rated on a scale from 0 to 3. All numbers are added together for a total score, with higher scores reflecting a greater amount of symptoms.
